Another Great Pintrest Idea!
The door from your garage to your house is always dirty and hard to clean so paint it a dark color. I love the black but decided to paint mine the same dark green as my front door. It is a huge improvement. After the fact I saw a dark brown door with dark beige walls in a Behr interior color idea book...so I may change it when we paint the inside of our house this fall.

Growing Longer Hair-as seen on Pintrest
There are several Pins on Pintrest about growing your hair longer (2 inches or more in one month) using this recipe:
Apply once a week for a month- 2 tablespoons dry mustard powder, with 2 tablespoons of hot water to dissolve, 1 egg yolk, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 2 teaspoons of sugar (the more sugar, the hotter) Part hair and apply to the scalp only as it can be drying on your ends. Beware this is a mess! You will want to cover your head. A shower cap would be best. Coat your ends with coconut oil to protect them. Leave on for one hour. I tried this last Sunday and it was weird how hot and uncomfortable it was on my scalp but I have read that others don't always experience this. It also made me a little nauseous toward the end...but I accidentally left it on longer than they say so I wonder if that is why. I measured one of my braids from the top of my ear down. I will try it for a month and see what happens. Just call me the Pintrest Guinea Pig!

I'm Obsessed With Coconut Oil!
http://thebeautygypsy.com/coconut-oil-beauty-benefits/
I have heard several people talk about the benefits of Coconut oil lately. I found the above site on Pintrest and it has some great information.
Here is what I've tried and how it works for me:
1. Hair: Intense conditioner-leave in your hair overnight. It washed out well in the morning and made my hair shiny and smooth. Leave in conditioner-smooth a small amount on ends and flyways. A little goes a long way.
2. Face: Eye makeup remover-works great and is supposed to make lashes longer and darker. Moisturizer-skin glows and feels soft and it is supposed to correct dark spots and funny enough help correct oily skin. Lips-use in place of lip balm and lip gloss. Today I used it on my face and wore no makeup to the store. Three strangers commented on how pretty I looked lol!
3. Skin: Overall moisturizer-skin feels amazing and stays hydrated all day. Dabbing apple cider vinegar on moles and then following up with coconut oil is supposed to fade moles and dark spot or make them disappear all together in two weeks. I have tried this for 5 days now and several moles are gone and many have faded! It is a natural sunscreen.
4. "Oil pulling"-before brushing your teeth in the morning swish 2TBS of coconut oil around in your mouth for 15-20 minutes. This is an ancient form of detox. It has many health benefits such as:
- Banish under-eye circles
- Gives glowing skin
- Cure mouth, blood and skin infections
- Prevent bad breath
- Reduce headaches
- Treat bronchitis
- Cure ulcers
- Strengthen memory
- Treat insomnia
- Tackle lack of energy and chronic fatigue
- Cure kidney diseases
- Keep the heart healthy
- Relieve toothache
- Prevent cavities
- Help cure gum problems
Ready, Set, Go!
I'm just beginning a year long sabbatical from 20 years of teaching. I look forward to completing projects, travel and trying new things.
